What great morning on the water.  Talk about a mixed bag!  We boated a few dandy Walleyes, including a 29”er, which we released, 4 lake trout, 8 coho salmon, 3 King salmon, and a nice Brown!  The boys will be eating good for several days!  Fun!

The weather was a little less than spectacular this morning, but always fun to get out on the Gitch.  Out with some friends and grabbed a nice morning limit.  Fun!

Found a nice little weather window, and made the best of it!  Got together with Garrett on a last second decision to run to Michigan.  Probably the last laker day of the season for both of us.  But it sure didn’t disappoint.  Multiple doubles and triples and some true giants with the biggest taping in at 41”!  Great day to call it a year for trout.

<div>The North Shore bite on Lake Superior has slowed a bit, but that hasn’t stopped us from piecing together some nice mixed bag catches, including coho salmon, pink salmon, lake trout, and even a successfully released Steelhead. The big East wind the other day did an amazing job of stirring the lake. Prior to the wind temperatures on the surface were near 60 degrees. Post wind I’m finding 50 degrees as the hot spots and 46-49 the norm, with next to zero variance down to 100’. Basically that means the fish can be wherever they want to be in the water column. The fish we’ve been catching have been in the range of 20’ to 50’ down over whatever depth. Flasher fly and spoon combos have taken all fish. I still have a few open dates in July. Huge sea trout caught while fishing in Duluth

Fishing conditions on the Duluth side of Lake Superior have been steady and productive as we move into late June. Anglers launching out of the Duluth harbor and nearby access points are finding solid multi-species action across the board.

Lake Trout:
Lake trout are the main draw right now, with good numbers being caught offshore in 80–140 feet of water. Trolling spoons and flasher-fly combos behind downriggers or dipsy divers is the go-to method. The bite is best early in the day or when cloud cover lingers. Most fish are in the 3–8 lb range, with occasional double-digit lakers coming up from the deeper pockets.

Coho & Chinook Salmon:
There’s been a decent push of cohos and scattered kings in recent days. Look for them suspended in the upper 50 feet of water, especially in slightly warmer pockets near river mouths or temperature breaks. Bright-colored spoons and small dodgers are getting hits.

Walleye:
Anglers targeting St. Louis Bay and near-shore structure are reporting strong walleye bites. Troll crankbaits or run a live bait rig along mud transitions and drop-offs. Early morning and dusk are prime windows, especially during low-wind conditions.

Bonus Species:
Steelhead are still popping up now and then, mostly near the mouths of rivers and along rocky shorelines. A few brown trout have also been caught by those trolling closer to shore in the top 30 feet.

Spent the entire day on one of my favorite crappie lakes yesterday.  I probably caught over 200 perch.  25 smaller ones, and then you’d get a nice one.  Everywhere I drilled a hole, the locator would eventually look like this.  I hooked one crappie all day.  It was an absolute giant.  Too many perch!  I should have occasionally retied.  The slab, guessing 15-16” broke off at the top of the hole and I failed at grabbing it.  😩 I’m definitely paying for my efforts today.  What a sunburn on my face and hands!!  Probably done with ice, but we’ll see.
